Avi Paz Reelected IDE President

Avi Paz was reelected president of the Israel Diamond Exchange. Paz won 73 percent of the votes in the Wednesday elections, winning him a third and final term at the top seat.

Following the publication of the results, Paz called on the Israeli government to provide the local diamond industry with immediate emergency support in order to ensure that it emerges stronger from the current economic fallout. "This is a national economic interest," he said Wednesday.

Paz, who also serves as president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB), will be departing for Hong Kong where the organization will hold a summit meeting of the presidents of Far-East diamond exchanges.
