JA and JFC to Raise Funds for Haiti Relief

Contributions up to a total of $30,000 made to assist relief efforts in the wake of Haiti’s devastating earthquake will be matched by the Jewelers of America (JA) and Jewelers for Children (JFC), the associations announced Friday.

Members of the jewelry trade are encouraged to JFC's website, www.jewelersforchildren.org, to contribute directly to the organization, which will immediately distribute the funds to the Haiti relief funds of three organizations: Direct Relief International, Save the Children and  The American Red Cross International Response Fund.

The tragic aftermath of Haiti's 7.0 earthquake last week has left the small Caribbean country in ruins. According to recent reports by the Associated Press, Haiti's government alone has already recovered 20,000 bodies. The Pan American Health Organization has estimated that 50,000 to 100,000 people perished in the quake.

The JA and JFC will match all donations made between January 15-25.
