Antwerp Diamond Trade Fair Gets off to Busy Start
February 07, 10The Antwerp Diamond Trade Fair began its diamond trade show in a “lively fashion,” Sunday morning, according to a release by the Antwerp Diamond Bourse. Dozens of European jewelry and diamond buyers “thronged” the more than 40 stands set up in the bourse's historical trading hall.
“This is exactly the atmosphere we had in mind,” said Antwerp Diamond Bourse President Artur Beller. “Our guests can visit each and every exhibiting company at leisure, introduce themselves, take stock of what goods they have to offer and make purchases on site."
Thierry Silber, a principal of Diamaz International, was quoted in the release as stating that the fair came at the time it was most needed. The exclusive fair “sends a clear message” to the jewelry market that the diamond industry is willing to invest in the future, according to Silber.
“The luxury product market is re-calibrating itself, and interest and demand for high-end diamonds and diamond jewelry is climbing back up. This is the time to meet new, potential buyers who are looking for innovative ideas and better products,” Silber said. “We, as diamantaires, can help them, not only with product but also with a range of services they have not experienced before."
The Antwerp Diamond Trade Fair, a by-invitation-only event, will be held February 7-9 on the 105-year-old bourse's trading floor.
