DTC Botswana Appoints Gabaake Chairman

Gabaake, a career civil servant, is replacing
Shine as DTCB chair

Gabaake G. Gabaake has been appointed as chairman of the board of directors of the Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTCB), the company announced Monday. Gabaake is replacing current chairperson Varda Shine.

 

Gabaake, a career civil servant, is the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources. He started his career in 1986 as an assistant hydrogeologist in the department of geological survey in the ministry.

 

He has held various senior positions, including director of water affairs, deputy permanent secretary responsible for transport in the Ministry of Works and Transport and permanent secretary in the Ministry of Local Government.

 

Gabaake holds a bachelor's degree in geology from the University of Botswana and earned his masters degree in groundwater hydrology at the University College of London. He is also the main author of two chapters in the Botswana National Atlas, the water resources and the hydrology chapters.
