IDEX Online Market Report - September 9, 2010

The U.S., the engine that pulls the entire diamond industry, is back in motion. While this is yet to be felt in the global diamond centers, New York's diamond traders are busy, and their orders will soon fuel the rest of the polished pipeline.

 

U.S.

Orders in the New York market continue to trickle in and certain shortages are already reported, such as for 3 grainers in all qualities, but especially in the SI2 clarities. I1-2 are in demand in 20 per carat to carat sizes.

Traders are waiting for business to pickup. The activity in the U.S. is yet to generate business during the week, though the expectations are for the near term is positive.
