Anything Goes At The Golden Globes

March 08, 11 by

Natalie Portman

As the 2011 awards season got underway, the ladies of Hollywood got all dressed up for the 68th Annual Golden Globes Award. It seemed to be a case of anything goes, with the stars of TV and the big screen putting their individual mark on the first major red carpet event of the year.

Jennifer Lopez wore earrings, a diamond cluster brooch (in her hair), a diamond suspension ring with a 7.06 carat emerald cut diamond and a 66.45 carat diamond Paisley timepiece cuff, all by Harry Winston. The one-of-a-kind timepiece cuff featured 606 brilliant, pear, and marquise shaped diamonds united by bands of calibrated baguettes and went perfectly with her white draped Zuhair Murad dress, Swarovski clutch and Christian Louboutin shoes.

Pregnant Natalie Portman showed off her growing bump with a beautifully draped pink and red dress by Viktor & Rolf as she picked up the gong for Best Actress for her role in Black Swan. The actress, who is in line for an Oscar, accessorized with Stella McCartney shoes, a Dior clutch and jewelry by Tiffany & Co. Portman wore a multi-row diamond necklace set in platinum, worth $67,500, oval diamond stud earrings set in platinum totalling $28,200 and an 18 karat white gold Metro diamond band ring, valued at $1,750.

Scarlett Johansson who was a presenter at the awards went for classic style in her Elie Saab dress, which she paired with Jimmy Choo shoes and a glam up-do. Her jewelry choche was vintage Van Cleef & Arpels and consisted of a 22.48 carat platinum and diamond bracelet from 1920, a platinum and diamond bracelet from 1930, platinum and diamond hair clips from 1934, which she wore in her hair, and platinum and diamond stud earrings.

Actress Rashida Jones, from the award-nominated movie The Social Network added glamour with a 21 carat Forevermark by William Goldberg Diamond Aero Bracelet at the Art of Elysium 'Heaven' Gala in Los Angeles the night before the awards. She paired the bracelet with diamond cluster earrings and a microset three row diamond bracelet also by William Goldberg.

Michelle Trachtenberg also opted for Forevermark jewelry for her Golden Globe night celebrations. She wore a 21 Carat Forevermark by William Goldberg Diamond Aero Bracelet to the InStyle Magazine Golden Globes party in Beverly Hills. She paired the bracelet with an Ashoka Diamond Flame Bracelet also by William Goldberg.

The night was nearly a disaster for Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks when she discovered she had lost a 124 carat bracelet by Chopard. The mishap happened prior to the ceremony and occurred due to a faulty clasp on the $850,000 bracelet. According to news reports, Hendricks had to ask people if they had seen the bracelet, even going so far as to rush out of the auditorium and search the red carpet for the jewel. Fortunately, an event worker located the missing piece and returned it to the thankful star.

Deciding it was better not to hold onto it, the actress gave the offending item to her publicist for safe keeping and had to make do with the other 86 carats of diamonds she had on, including another Chopard bracelet, this one a 49 carat emerald and marquis cut platinum bracelet.
