Abraham 'Bumi' Traub Elected President of IsDMA

November 23, 11 by IDEX Online Staff Reporter

(IDEX Online News) – The Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association (IsDMA) has elected Abraham (Bumi) Traub as its new President, succeeding Moti Ganz who served in this position for seven years, the association announced Tuesday night.

Traub, who joined the diamond industry in 1973, has been involved in IsDMA for many years. Named Honorary President of IsDMA in 2007, for his contribution in fostering cooperation, has headed various IsDMA committees and has been an active director of the Israel Diamond Exchange and the Israel Diamond Institute.

Founded in 1940, IsDMA represents all of the diamond manufacturers in Israel, whether they manufacture in Israel or abroad.

IsDMA is the representative body of employers in the diamond industry and works to advance the sector’s standing with government agencies and international forums.

Ganz said, “Bumi Traub is a self-made man, who began as a new immigrant and climbed to the peak of the Israeli Diamond Industry. We are in a challenging period, and no one is better suited than Bumi Traub to lead us in meeting these challenges and to keep Israel’s diamond industry at the forefront.”

Ganz was unanimously elected Honorary President of IsDMA in recognition of his work on behalf of the association during his tenure.

Traub said that he was taking on this demanding public role because the future of the Israeli diamond industry is very important to him. “I have made Israel my first home, the diamond industry my second home and I am committed to both of them with all my heart and soul. As someone who has worked his entire career for cooperation, I will continue to do so, so that together we can preserve Israel’s status as a world diamond leader. I trust that the extensive experience I bring to the role of IsDMA President will enable me to lead the Israeli industry in this changing world and bring it to new heights,” he said.
