EQC to Coordinate 2012 China Jewellery Design and Craftsmanship Contest
March 01, 12(IDEX Online News) – The European Quality Circle (EQC) organization today announced that it has been chosen to coordinate the participation of jewelry designers and manufacturers from outside China in the 2012 "China Jewellery Design and Craftsmanship Contest."
"As China's economy is thriving, retail sales of finished jewelry are growing rapidly," says EQC's CEO, Eyal Atzmon. "At the same time the Chinese consumer public's appetite and demand for fresh and original jewelry designs is increasing extensively. Therefore, the contest's organizers are welcoming foreign participation, by means of its cooperation with EQC."
Designers and manufacturers who want to enter the contest can do so either as individuals or in the “team” category of the competition.
Those entering the Jewellery Design Contest as individuals must design in either gold or platinum, with the addition of diamonds, jadeite or other colored gemstones, pearls, as well as other auxiliary materials. The deadline for entry submission for the Design Contest is May 30.
Those wanting to participate in the Craftsman Contest group category must create either plain gold jewelry or inlay jewelry, the two major types of Chinese jewelry. The deadline for this contest is October 15.
EQC was established to help increase sales, improve profitability and enhance consumer confidence in the jewelry industry. It is operating on behalf of the Gems & Jewellery Trade Association in China, the National Gems & Jewellery Technology Administrative Centre (NGTC), the National Gemstone Testing Center and the National Gemmological Training Centre.
