– Designer Todd Reed, president and CEO of Todd Reed, Inc., recently gave a contribution to the Diamond Development Initiative (DDI) placing him the Millennium Star level of the Friends of DDI campaign.

According to the DDI’s website, Millennium Star Friends give an annual subscription of $250 or sponsorship of $3,000 or more.

The designer, who specializes in designing with raw, uncut diamonds and recycled metals, said he had long been searching for a way to support the concept of ethically mined and socially responsible diamonds.

“When I learned of the work of DDI, I knew I had found an organization that will not only help the millions of artisanal diamond miners out in the field, but will also have a significant impact on the industry I love. I’m proud and honored to contribute to DDI’s on-the-ground projects, which are an engine for sustainable development in some of the most marginalized regions of the diamond mining world,” he said.

“Donations from someone with Todd’s stature as a respected designer and businessman reinforce the value our organization provides to the jewelry industry.”
“We are thrilled with Todd’s contribution,” said Dorothée Gizenga, executive director of the DDI.

DDI brings the jewelry and diamond industry, non-governmental organizations and governments together to ensure that diamonds are an engine for positive economic and social development in the African and South American communities in which they are sourced.
