The IDEX Online Polished Price Report for September 20, 2012

(IDEX Online News) – With one exception, all changes in round-cut diamond prices are downward this week. Fancy cuts are stable, with many price increases in the +0.80 size range.

Following are some of the changes in this week's IDEX Online Diamond Price Report:

 

Rounds

  • 0.18-0.22 cts D / I1 goods decline another 5.3 percent this week, listing at $900 per carat (p/c). I / VS2 goods lost 4.0% to $1,200 p/c
  • 0.23-0.29 cts, mid colors and clarities keep declining
  • 0.30-0.39 cts a few decreases, also in mid colors and clarities
  • 0.40-0.44, mostly steady
  • 0.45-0.49 cts, EFG / VVS1 weakening, I / IF, N / VS softening
  • 0.50-0.69 cts higher colors suffering from a few price losses
  • 0.70-0.79 cts, I3 declining
  • 0.80-0.89 cts pique goods, mainly in lower colors, keep losing ground, H / IF-VVS2 lost about 3% of their prices this week
  • 0.90-0.99 cts, IF and I2 goods are losing ground
  • 1.00-1.24 cts steadying after last week's wide price declines. Better clarity HIJ goods weak
  • 1.25-1.49 cts, pique goods in a week of price declines
  • 2 cts, mostly holding steady, though some categories lost interest and are softening this week
  • 3 cts L / SI1 down 3.0% to $6,500 p/c
  • 4 cts no price changes
  • 5 cts, H / SI1 up 3.1% to $19,9300 p/c

Fancy Cuts

  • Another week of steady prices for 0.18-0.22 cts goods
  • 0.23-0.29, no price changes
  • 0.30-0.39 cts, no price changes
  • 0.40-0.44 cts unchanged
  • 0.45-0.49 cts E / VVS2 up 2.1% to $2,450 p/c
  • 0.50-0.69 cts G-J pique goods are slipping, G / VS1 keep rising, up 2.1% to $2,450 p/c
  • 0.70-0.79 cts remain in demand, specifically better colors in the mid-clarity ranges. G / SI2 is keeps declining
  • Another week of wide price increases among the 0.80-0.89 cts size goods, concentrated on the H-N / IF-SI1 goods
  • 0.90-0.99 cts goods in top color and clarities increased by ~3% this week, as have I / SI goods
  • 1.00-1.24 cts I / VVS2 +2.0% to $50,000
  • 1.25-1.49 cts prices increase in mid color/clarity goods, I / SI2 down 2.6% to $3,800 p/c
  • 1.50-1.99 cts are in good demand, J color goods in particular
  • 2 cts goods are in continued demand, especially mid-clarity I color goods
  • 3 cts G / IF keeps losing ground, down 3.1% to $31,000 p/c
  • 4 cts no changes
  • 5 cts G / IF up 3.0% to $55,700 p/c, H / SI2 down 3.0% to $13,100 p/c
