Gem Diamonds Sells 12.47-Ct Blue Stone For Record $7.5M

– Gem Diamonds Limited has sold a 12.47-carat blue diamond mined at the Letšeng mine in Lesotho for a record price of $7.5 million, or $603,047 per carat.

 

The miner also sold an 82-carat white diamond recovered at the same for $4.8 million, or $59,173 per carat.

 

Gem Diamonds CEO, Clifford Elphick said:"Letšeng continues to achieve such outstanding prices for its exceptional diamonds and we continue to expect recovery of such high quality diamonds as mining at Letšeng continues to focus more on the higher grade, higher value Satellite pipe towards the end of 2013 and into 2014."
