Brilliance.com Uses 3D Printing to Take Guesswork Out of Diamond Buying
May 01, 14 (IDEX Online News) – Forget 'guesstimating' what size or shape diamond fits best, using the latest 3D print technology, jewelry retailer Brilliance.com has launched a new program that takes the guesswork out of online jewelry purchases.
3D-Printed Rings
To allow customers to buy online, without having to visit a brick-and-mortar store, online retailer Brilliance will send ring files to those with a 3D printer, allowing potential customers to see exactly what they will be buying. The company will also send 3D-printed models – free of charge – to those without access to this technology.
Currently, the 3D-printing program assists buyers with determining their ring size, the diamond shape that best suits them, and the difference in carat sizes.
“The point of the program is to let customers actually see the difference in shape, size or carat, instead of buying it online only to be unsatisfied when it arrives or having to go to a brick-and-mortar store. The program gives buyers the benefits of an in-store experience, without the hassle,” said a press release from the company.
