ImaGem Develops Advanced Diamond Color Grading Technology

(IDEX Online News) – ImaGem says it has developed advanced diamond color grading technology to "achieve accurate and repeatable grading of diamonds with a secondary hue".

"This is a major breakthrough achieved recently by Dr. Lalit K. Aggarwal who has worked on this problem for the last 20 years," the firm said in a statement.

"ImaGem can now grade diamonds with secondary hues such as brown, gray and other hues, two-toned diamonds, and colored diamonds. This can be done on-site with the newest version of ImaGem’s integrated diamond grading machine GL3200."

The company said that GL3200 is part of its strategy to provide the latest technology for diamond industry on-site grading.

The grading machine deal with 2,400 diamonds a month. The GL3200 Grader machine grades color, fluorescence, light behavior, proportion analysis, symmetry and alignment for round as well as fancy shapes. The loading in the machine is done by a robotic arm and the entire grading process is automated.

The GL3200 is based on digital imaging technology and color science. You can now get accurate grading enabling results in minutes.
