Fancy Color Index Shows Colored Diamonds Strengthening

May 13, 15 by IDEX Online Staff

(IDEX Online News) – According to the latest data published by the Fancy Color Research Foundation (FCRF) in its third Fancy Color Index, the value of fancy colored diamonds continued to hold firm, with key categories increasing in value between January and April 2015.

Quarterly analysis suggests that a key factor in their resilience was the significant shortage of product across most color and size categories leading to higher margins.

Product segments that showed price increases of more than 2 percent during the period include 1-carat fancy and intense blues, 3-carat intense blue and 1.5-carat fancy yellows.

“It is encouraging for our members to see that, once again, fancy color diamonds have exhibited a solid growth in value, with fancy and intense blues performing particularly well,” said Ephraim Zion, a member of the FCRF’s advisory board.
