More than 100 HK Companies to Present Jewelry and Watches at Baselworld

March 16, 16 by David Brummer

(IDEX Online News) – The Hong Kong combined stand at the upcoming Baselworld is likely to attract around 120 companies, according to the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).

So far, 65 jewelry firms, 37 watch and clock companies and nine timepiece component and packing material manufacturers have confirmed their attendance.

The HKTDC said that different parts of the world had diverse jewelry and watch requirement. In Europe, for example, solitaire engagement rings and memory rings are becoming more popular. It said that there will be a range of designs on display at Baselworld, from geometrical to extravagant, with combinations of pearls, diamonds and gold – white, rose and yellow.

Colored gemstone jewelry will also be displayed, with Dewcarat Ltd., exhibiting a ring with a large white opal surrounded by blue sapphires and diamonds. Goldiaq Creation Limited’s ring will cover the whole finger and combines diamonds, blue sapphires, iolite and green garnets.

In 2015, Hong Kong’s fine jewelry exports declined 12.2 percent to $6.9 billion and imports declined 18.6 percent to $11.8 billion. Exports of ready-made timepieces were also down, a 7.7-percent decline to $6.7 billion.
