Chinese Citizens Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Diamonds From IIJS Exhibitor

August 01, 17 by Albert Robinson

(IDEX Online) – Mumbai police arrested two Chinese citizens on Monday evening for allegedly stealing diamonds from a booth at the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) which ended yesterday.

The Chinese men had already cleared immigration at Mumbai international airport, and were stopped after closed-circuit television footage was forwarded to Mumbai airport police, according to a report by the Business Standard which reported that a senior official of the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) had confirmed it.

The suspects were due to travel by Air India to Osaka, but were returned to immigration and handed over to the police for questioning.
