U.S. Jewelry Sales Post Big Increase in August

(IDEX Online) – Sales of fine jewelry and fine watches rose by 6.8 percent in the U.S. market in August 2017, when compared to the same month a year ago, as the graph below illustrates.

 

Sales were an estimated $6.6 billion, according to preliminary data from the U.S. Commerce Department. The August sales performance was slightly higher than the figure for the month before which been the best since last January when sales also increased by 6.7 percent.

 

The sales rise in August was also higher than that for the year-earlier month when the increase was 4.9 percent.
