Bulk Sampling for Fancy Yellows in Arctic Circle

June 23, 21 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - Bulk sampling for high-value fancy yellow to orange yellow diamonds is about to start in Canada's northernmost territory.

Field crews for Vancouver-based North Arrow Minerals will collect up 2,000 tonnes in a $4.5m program funded by partner Burgundy Diamond Mines.

Eight kimberlite pipes have been identified at the Naujaat Project near the community of Naujaat, Nunavut, in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago.

The project's Q1-4 kimberlite, the largest and most diamondiferous discovered so far, hosts an estimated 26.1m inferred mineral resource of Type IaA - Ib fancy-colored diamonds.

North Arrow said the sample will be shipped south in September for processing. Diamonds recovered from the sample are intended to confirm the size distribution and character of stones.
