For Your Eyes Only - Diamonds Hidden inside Engagement Rings

August 16, 21 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - British designer Jenny Sweetnam has launched a fine gold jewelry collection featuring hidden diamonds.

Gems in the aptly-named Inverse Collection are tucked away inside the pieces, visible only when the wearer opens them up.

Unseen Diamond Ring, for example, (pictured) is described as "a circle shaped  silhouette that functions like a box, coming apart with an inner and outer wall to reveal a hollow space with a tension set diamond within". The solitary diamond is 0.035-ct VS. The piece costs $4,600.

Silent Diamond Ring ($4,800) has a rectangular 0.16ct VS gem hidden inside a small removable section of the band.

"Diamonds are hidden from view . . . designed for the intrigue and power of the wearer - a modern bride or a woman buying for herself," says Sweetnam, who is based in Hatton Garden, London.

"The stone is not the focus, it is not seen at all in the piece unless the wearer chooses to invert and position of the ring to reveal the stones."
