Not So Safe: "Bank Lost my Deposit Box of Jewelry"

October 04, 21 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - A widow is devastated after a bank lost her safety deposit box, containing a pair of diamond Rolex watches, her great-grandmother's gold wedding jewelry and many other irreplaceable items.

Audrey Lobo used to work at the branch of The Royal Bank of Scotland, in Aberdeen, Scotland, where she deposited the items for safe-keeping.

She says the bank showed her somebody else's box in January 2020, and has since been unable to locate hers.

The box also contained a Tanzanite ring, gold sovereigns, her wedding ring, that of her husband Trevor, who died suddenly last April, and her engagement ring. The total value of all items has been put at around $130,000.

The bank confirmed in a letter that it had been unable to locate Audrey's items, according to the Daily Record newspaper.

Mrs Lobo's lawyer is demanding answers. The newspaper requested a comment from the bank.
