Tiffany Controversy: Beyonce Wears THAT Diamond Again

November 07, 21 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - Beyonce has again been photographed wearing the iconic Tiffany Diamond, despite having said she was "angry and disappointed" to learn it was a blood diamond.

The 40-year-old singer wore the 128.54-carat gem in a new photo-shoot with husband Jay-Z, 51, for Tiffany & Co's About Love campaign. The pic was posted on her Instagram account last Tuesday.

She prompted an online backlash in August when she first sported the $30m gem. Critics pointed to the stone's history - It was recovered from the De Beers' Kimberley mine, in South Africa in 1878, at a time when slave labor was widespread and working conditions were primitive.

Beyonce said at the time that she was disappointed and angry that she hadn't been made aware of the stone's provenance.

The Tiffany Diamond has only ever been worn by four women, including Audrey Hepburn in Breakast at Tiffany's in 1961 and, more recently, by Lady Gaga at the 2019 Academy Awards. Beyonce became the first black woman to wear it.
