Pictured: Suspect who put Fake Bomb in Jeweler's Doorway

November 09, 21 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - Police have released CCTV images of a suspect who placed a fake bomb in the doorway of a jewelry store, with a note demanding cash and jewelry.

He prompted a full-scale alert at Sergio's Fine Jewelers, in Ellicott City, Maryland, USA.

Police deployed drones, sniffer dogs, and a bomb robot before establishing for certain that the device, inside a box, was not genuine.

The entire plaza where the jeweler is located had to be evacuated for almost the whole working day.

Howard County Police have released video of the suspect, together with photos of the black NASA sweatshirt he wore and the black Mercedes Benz sedan he drove, on 1 October. The man wore a hood and a mask.

Police are offering a $1,500 reward for information leading to his identification.
