Cheap Romance: Supermarket Sells Engagement Rings for a Pound

(IDEX Online) - Valentine's Day shoppers at a budget supermarket in Britain can buy an engagement ring for just £1 ($1.35).
The silver-colored plastic band is set with a fake diamond and comes with a free heart-shaped box, which may well be more valuable than the ring itself.
Asda, the country's third biggest supermarket chain, with almost 650 stores, urged customers to "'share some love with this ring".
It provoked a mixed response on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook group, which posted details yesterday.
Hopeless romantics said love mattered more than the ring. But one member posted: "If my fella bought me this engagement ring I'd shove it up his ..."
