War in Ukraine: Brilliant Earth Boycotts Russian Mined Diamonds

March 06, 22 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - Brilliant Earth, the US-based digtal-first jeweler, says it has removed all Russian mined diamonds from its website.

The company, which styles itself as "global leader in ethically sourced fine jewelry", made no mention of lab growns, which it also sells.  Nor did it indicate what proportion of its diamonds were sourced from Russia.

Brilliant Earth, founded by Stanford alumni Beth Gerstein and Eric Grossberg in 2005, tweeted: "At Brilliant Earth, we remain committed to transparency and responsibility, and offering products that meet our high standards. We have removed all Russian mined diamonds from our website."

It created a rigorous protocol called Beyond Conflict Free Diamonds to provide customers with an "unparalleled transparency of your diamond's provenance".
