March 14, 22 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - A pair of Boucheron earrings featuring 14.00-ct and 13.75-ct pear-shaped diamonds sold for $1.26m at Sotheby's New York.

They led the Important Jewels auction last Wednesday, which raised a total of $12.4m.

The detachable pear-shaped diamonds are both Type IIa, a 14.00-ct D/VS1 and a 13.75-ct D/VVS2, as certified by GIA. They are set in 18K gold, together with around 7.80-ct of accenting diamonds. They beat the pre-auction estimate of $900,000 to $1.2m.

A necklace set with 47 square emerald-cut diamonds with a total weight of 146.52 carats (5.02 to 2.00 carats, H-N color, VVS1-I1 clarity) sold for $945,000. The estimate was $850,000 to $1m.
