Proposal Ruined: Hapless Romantic Drops Ring in Lake

(IDEX Online) - Four million viewers have watched a TikTok video of hapless romantic Ross Bamber, 26, dropping a $1,200 diamond engagement into a lake during a disastrous marriage proposal.
Video shows the ring falling from its box as he prepares to slip it on to the finger of fiancee-to-be Geri Ashforth, 23 after a candlelit meal for two.
"That wasn't what I thought it was, was it?" she asks, covering her eyes, as the ring falls into the water from wooden decking at Watton, Norfolk, England.
"I watched it as it was bouncing along the decking and it sat on the edge of one of the decking boards, and I thought, 'Wow' - and then it literally plopped in," Bamber told the BBC.
He bought a replacement ring, proposed again the following day. And she said yes.
