James Bond Wedding Ring to be Auctioned

September 19, 22 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - An early version of the only wedding ring ever worn by James Bond is expected to fetch up to $13,000 at auction.

The 007 agent was married only once in all the 25 movies, to Contessa Teresa di Vicenzo (Diana Rigg) in the 1969 film On Her Majesty's Secret Service. She was assassinated shortly after the wedding. Bond was played by George Lazenby.

Jeweler Charles de Temple created a two-colored gold ring for the film which spelled out "All the time in the world" - title of the film's theme song by Louis Armstrong.

De Temple was recognized as a pioneer in modern British jewelry design and was in high demand in London during the 1960s.

The ring, a prototype of the used on screen, goes under the hammer at Bonhams London Jewels sale on 21 September.

Emily Barber, Bonhams head of jewelry, UK, commented: "As well as embodying a pivotal moment in de Temple's career, this ring has never been on the market before and truly is a piece of cinematic history."
