"Magnificently Rare" 13-ct Pink Could Sell for $35m

November 16, 22 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - Christie's is to auction another huge pink diamond, this time a 13.15-carat gem with a high estimate of $35m.

It's just a week since it sold the 18.18-carat pear-shaped Fortune Pink for $28.8m (Estimate $25m to $35m) in Geneva.

Next month the "magnificently" fancy vivid diamond, described as "VVS1 clarity, potentially internally flawless", will be offered for sale in New York on 6 December.

Rahul Kadakia, International Head of Christie's Jewellery said: "Following the success of The Fortune Pink, which achieved almost $30m last week in Geneva, we are proud to have been approached by a private collector to offer this incredible diamond … with impressive saturation, step-cut facets and a clarity grade of potentially Internally Flawless."

The highest price ever paid for any pink diamond is $71.2m, by China's biggest jeweler, Chow Tai Fook, at an auction held by Sotheby's Hong Kong, in April 2017.
