Men are Big Spenders on Valentine's Jewelry

February 13, 23 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - Men are much more likely to be splashing the cash this Valentine's Day than women.

Almost three quarters (74 per cent) of men said they'd splash out over $300 on a jewelry gift, compared with only 29 per cent of women.

Overall, just over half (56 per cent) said they'd spend over $300, according to a survey of 18 to 70-year-olds by the MVEye market research company.
Necklaces are most popular choice for women recipients (46 per cent) and rings are favorite for men (27 per cent).

Just under a fifth (18 per cent) of Americans say they'll give their loved one jewelry for Valentine's Day - behind chocolates, cards, flowers or a special night out.
