"I'm Back," says Raider in Repeat Jewelry Heist

April 05, 23 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - A brazen raider is believed to have struck twice in six weeks at the same jewelry store in New York. The owner said he told staff: "Hi, I'm back".

Police say he grabbed a worker at Melissa Joy Manning Jewelry, in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, in the latest attack and ordered her to open the display cabinets.

Owner Melissa Joy Manning says merchandise worth $200,000 was stolen in the first raid, in February, and $50,000 in the second.

She told CBS2 the suspect used an accomplice to ring the bell in the second attack.

"The moment she came in, he pushed in right behind her," she said.

"He walked through the middle of the store like he owned it in that bright, neon green tracksuit and said, 'Hi, I'm back'."

Police say the same suspect may be responsible for at least two other robberies at jewelry stores in New York City since January.
