20-ct Pink Diamond Could Fetch $16.5m

(IDEX Online) - A 20.19-carat fancy intense VVS1 pink diamond will lead the Phillips' inaugural Geneva Jewels auction next month, with an estimate of $11m to $16.5m.
It is one of the four largest fancy intense pink diamonds ever to be auctioned and is the most valuable jewel ever presented by Phillips.
The cut-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut diamond (pictured) is accented with baguette diamonds, and certified by GIA.
Other highlights include a ring set with a 54.27 carat fancy intense yellow diamond (round-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut) with a $1.3m to $1.8m estimate.
And a 15.60-ct oval diamond (D / VS2) by Fred, accented with baguette diamonds, with a $500,000 to $800,000 estimate.
The sale, on 6 November, also includes pieces from Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels, as well as colored stones and contemporary jewels by Viltier, Dries Criel, Maison Alix Dumas, Margaret, and Silvia Furmanovich.
In June a smaller stone, the 10.57-carat Eternal Pink, sold for $34.8m at Sotheby's New York.
The highest price ever paid for any pink diamond is $71.2m, by China's biggest jeweler, Chow Tai Fook, at an auction held by Sotheby's Hong Kong, in April 2017.
