California Sunset Diamonds Could Fetch $12m

(IDEX Online) - Earrings featuring a pair of exceptionally large fancy vivid orange-yellow diamonds, weighing 12.20 carats and 11.96 carats are to be sold at Christie's New York.
The California Sunset Diamonds carry an estimate of $7m to $12m. Both stones are oval mixed-cut and natural color. The larger of the two is VVS2 clarity, the smaller is VS1.
Each earring has an additional two white diamonds,: 3.03 carats, D color, VS2 clarity; 3.02 carats, D color, VS2 clarity; 0.73 carat, D color, VS2 clarity and 0.73 carat, D color, VVS2 clarity.
Other highlight of the 156-lot Magnificent Jewels event on 6 December include a 3.49 carat fancy vivid blue cushion modified brilliant-cut IF diamond in a brushed platinum ring (estimate $4.5m to $5.5m) and a 5.16 carat fancy vivid yellowish orange pear mixed-cut diamond ring in 18k yellow gold ($1.5m to $2m).
