Hotel Guest's $800,000 Diamond Found . . . in Vacuum Cleaner Bag

December 11, 23 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - A guest at the five-star Ritz Hotel, in Paris, has been reunited with her $800,000 diamond ring, after it was found in a vacuum cleaner bag.

The owner, an unnamed Malaysian businesswoman, contacted police on Friday (8 December) after it disappeared from a table while she went out shopping at Place Véndome. She returned at around noon and found the ring was missing.

The immediate suspicion was that she'd been the victim of a sophisticated and high-value heist.

But two days later the hotel's security team located the ring, in the bag of a vacuum cleaner.

A representative of the ring's owner told Le Parisien newspaper: "We would like to thank the staff at the Ritz Paris who mobilised for this search and who work each day with integrity and professionalism."
