Toronto Jeweler Accused of Stealing Repair Items

April 03, 24 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - Police in Canada have arrested a jewelry store owner on suspicion of stealing items left for appraisal or repair.

Armin Hasmani, 67, is alleged to have accepted customers' jewelry at two stores in Toronto, then to have closed them both abruptly without returning the items.

Customers returned to find the premises - Amiza Diamond on Bloor St. E. and Inaza Diamond on Danforth Ave - were empty. They were open for business between August 2023 and February 2024.

Police believe there may be more victims and are appealing for them to come forward.

Hasmani was arrested on 27 March and has been charged with two counts of fraud, two of theft, and two of possession of property obtained by crime.
