Lucapa Recovers Sixth Biggest Diamond at Lulo

(IDEX Online) - Lucapa has recovered a 195-carat Type IIa diamond from its Lulo alluvial mine, in Angola.
It's the fourth +100-carat diamond to be recovered at Lulo this year and he 44th since the Australian miner started commercial operations in January 2015.
It's also the sixth largest in the mine's history. The largest ever recovery was a 404 carat Type IIa diamond, in February 2016.
Lulo commands the highest price per carat for alluvial diamonds in the world.
Lucapa announced last month that it will sell its 70 per cent stake in the Mothae mine, in Lesotho, to focus on its core assets in Africa and Australia.
In April it sold three diamonds - weighing 203-cts, 116-cts and 42-cts - for a total of $10.5m at tender, achieving an average $29,000 per carat.
