Man, 83, Indicted over Fatal Shooting of Jewelry Store Owner

(IDEX Online) - An 83-year-old man has been indicted on first-degree murder charges in Florida, USA, over the fatal shooting of jewelry store owner Ghazi "Gus" Michel Osta.
The defendant, John Willard Craiger, was described as a frequent customer at Volusia Gold & Diamond, in Daytona Beach.
"The defendant is accused of shooting the owner of a jewelry store on West International Speedway Blvd. in Daytona Beach on July 19, 2024," said a statement by Florida's state attorney.
"The victim's son (David Osta) then shot back at him in defense and Craiger returned fire. The victim died from his injuries at the hospital."
Osta, a married father-of-four who moved to the US from Lebanon 38 years ago, was shot multiple times in the legs and also sustained a head injury, police said.
