September 17, 24
(IDEX Online) - Diamonds, emeralds, pearls, works of art and political memorabilia that belonged to super-wealthy US senator Dianne Feinstein are to be auctioned next month at Bonhams in Los Angeles County.
Highlights of her jewelry collection include a 4.14-carat diamond ring flanked by tapered baguette diamonds (estimate: $45,000 to $65,000), an 18k white gold and diamond necklace (tcw 25.50-cts approx) and a Tiffany & Co. pearl necklace designed by Paloma Picasso, daughter of Pablo.
Feinstein (pictured), a Democrat, made history as the first woman to hold the position of U.S. senator for California. She served from 1992 until her death last September, aged 90.
Her net worth was estimated at $70m, largely from her marriage to Richard Blum, a billionaire investment banker and financier who founded Blum Capital Partners and owned a vast portfolio of assets including Carlton Hotel Properties.
Legacy of a Stateswoman - The Personal Collection of Senator Dianne Feinstein takes place on 8 October.
