Huge Ruby and Blue Diamond Lead Phillips Sale

October 16, 24 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - A 17.97-carat Burmese ruby is to be offered with a $4.8m to $5.5m estimate by Phillips Geneva, together with a 3.24-carat fancy vivid blue, internally flawless diamond ($4.8m to $6m).

They're the highlights of The Geneva Jewels Auction: Three, which takes place on 11 November and also includes a 40.54-carat old European-cut fancy intense yellow VS1 diamond ($980,000 to $1.5m), a 14.65-carat Colombian emerald set in a vintage Cartier mount from the 1920s ($900,000 to $1.2m) and a 1.21-carat fancy red diamond ($500,000 to $800,000).

Full details and specifications of these and all other lots will be available in the online catalogue from 21 October.

A 19th-century spinel and diamond necklace, believed to have been gifted by King George IV to his mistress, Elizabeth Conyngham, in the early 1800s, will also be on offer.

The Geneva Jewels Auction: Two, held in May, raised over $26m.
