First Bite: Designer Debuts Jewelry with Teeth
September 01, 25
(IDEX Online) - French designer Alix Ferracci has launched a bold jewelry line featuring teeth - made of 925 sterling silver teeth and plated in gold or silver.
Her Paris-based label ALF Jewelry - a contraction of her first and last names — presents molars strung into necklaces and bracelets with tsavorite garnets, amethysts and diamonds.
Ferracci, who has worked with Pharrell Williams at Louis Vuitton, says she's drawing on the deep symbolism of teeth, which have been worn as amulets, status symbols, and ornamental markers since prehistoric times, embodying protection and power.
Her debut collection includes four necklaces, three bracelets, one ring and three earrings.
Prices range from EUR 350 for a cord bracelet with an 18-karat gold vermeil tooth set with green tsavorite, to EUR 2,300 for a gold vermeil molar necklace.
