Mikimoto Tiara to Provide Crowning Moment for Miss Universe

May 31, 05 by Albert Robinson

The new Miss Universe, Miss Canada Natalie Glebova, experienced the most glittering night of her career in Bangkok in more ways than one thanks to the specially-made tiara that replaces the crown with which the winning beauty is usually crowned.

The crowning moment was extra special for the winner since the tiara, made by cultured pearls manufacturer Mikimoto, features 120 pearls and 800 round-cut diamonds weighing a total of 18 carats.

The tiara for Miss Universe, which this year celebrates its 54th anniversary, is reportedly worth more than 10 million baht ($250,000).

The beauty pageant tiara is part of a display of 11 unique jewelry pieces from Mikimoto's premium limited-edition collection. Each piece has its own history, and only 10 copies of each have been produced.
