Kwiat’s Million Dollar Swinger

September 04, 06 by IDEX Online Staff Reporter

The world’s most expensive tennis racket has been on display in New York during the U.S Open. The Tennis Channel Kwiat Million Dollar Swinger, a $1 million Kwiat diamond-encrusted tennis racket, is on display at the Saks Fifth Avenue New York flagship store until September 11.

The Wilson racket, which was transformed into a million dollar work of art this in honor of The Tennis Channel’s inaugural Las Vegas tournament, the Tennis Channel Open, is set with more than 3,041 brilliant cut Kwiat diamonds with a total weight of 180 carats in an 18-karat white gold base.

“This racket is truly stunning and something that you have to see to believe,” said Ken Solomon, chairman and CEO of The Tennis Channel.

“This special piece continues our company’s long-time association with tennis,” said Greg Kwiat of Kwiat. “In 1995, we presented a special Kwiat diamond tennis bracelet to Chris Evert in honor of her induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. For the 2005 US Open, we launched the Kwiat Solaris bracelet with Venus and Serena Williams.”

The diamond racket was also shown during the recent annual tournament party hosted by The Tennis Channel, Sony Ericsson WTA Tour and ATP: Glam Slam ’06. During the party, luggage manufacturer Hartmann unveiled the world’s most expensive tennis racket bag, which was valued at $10,000.
