24-Karat Gold Mickey Valued at $4 Million

September 29, 06 by Joseph V. Kuca, New York

"On the cusp of the holiday selling season, a unique luxury item is up for sale, an authentic, Disney-certified, 24-karat gold Mickey Mouse sculpture dubbed "Celebration Mickey."

Cast from 3,000 troy ounces of 24-karat gold, the statue stands approximately two feet tall and weighs in at just over 100 pounds. It is said to be the largest gold sculpture cast by Disney, and it is understood to be the largest single 24-karat gold statue ever cast.

The sculpture, which was designed by Disney artist Marc Delle to commemorate Walt Disney's 100th birthday in 2001, is currently up for sale and carries a price tag of $4 million. The item is reportedly one of the most expensive pieces of Disney memorabilia ever offered to the public, by some estimates, the nose alone is worth $65,000.

The statue is being offered by the Florida-based holding company R&D Muller, Ltd.
