Premier Diamond Cutting Changes Rough Sourcing after Strategic Review

July 17, 07 by IDEX Online Staff Reporter

The following is a press release by Premier Diamond Cutting regarding changes it is making in its rough supplies following a strategic review.

Premier Diamond Cutting Ltd, the Bangkok-based diamond, gem, and jewellery manufacturer, has informed their clients about changes that they are implementing, following a strategic review.

The Premier are the first, and currently only, Sightholder in Thailand of the DTC (the sales and marketing arm of De Beers), receiving their first Sight over 25 years ago.

The DTC and Premier enjoy co-operation in striving towards driving demand for polished diamonds in Thailand and the neighbouring countries, Premier being a significant player in the region.

Premier has decided that, in light of the changes that are taking place at the DTC – their reduced availability of rough diamonds, coupled with the growing demand for this rough from producing countries, the demands of Premier’s diamond manufacturing operations and their customers, will, for the time being, alternatively be met by Premier arranging for supply from other outside rough sources. This will ensure, as in the past, Premier’s ability to underwrite their promise to their clientele of consistent supply of diamonds, which, like DTC rough, abide with the stringent demands of the international diamond trade.

Premier are delighted that this decision will have no impact on the mutual understanding and cooperation between the two companies. In light of the changes announced this week by the DTC regarding their Marketing Department, The Premier, anticipates this element of the relationship being enhanced even further.
