Moshe Schnitzer Passes Away

During his long career, he was elected president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses and was later named Honorary President of WFDB and the IDE.
In 2004, Schnitzer received the Israel Prize for Lifetime Achievements and Special Contribution to the Israeli Society, the most prestigious accolade granted by the country.
The judging committee that selected Schnitzer said, “In his activities Mr. Schnitzer turned the State of Israel into one of the leading [countries] in the global diamond industry and by that contributed to the economic foundations of the country, and the creation of tens of thousands of jobs.”
He is survived by his son Shmuel and daughters Hannah and Etti. Shmuel, who joined the family business, also served as president of the IDE and WFDB.
Two of Schnitzer's grandsons, Shai Schnitzer and Dan Gertler, are also active in the diamond industry, each having established their own companies.
