Italian Brands Rosato and Calgaro Merge

February 18, 10 by Courtesy of National Jeweler Network

Rosato is known for their distinctive gold and enamel charms

Italian jewelry brands Rosato and Calgaro have joined forces, merging as a means to help both companies ride out the challenging economic conditions that have battered the Italian gold industry, Rosato announced in a media release.

Neither company has released financials details of the deal, but Calgaro will remain in Milan and produce its goods in Vicenza, Italy, while Rosato will continue to maintain facilities in Milan, Arezzo and Tuscany, Italy, as well as its U.S. headquarters in Burbank, Calif.

"Both companies will continue to operate independently in terms of design, product development and brand strategy," Rosato spokesperson Stefania Marchesi said in the release.

Rosato, founded in 2004 by Simona Rosato, has built its name on sterling silver fashion jewelry as well as distinctive gold and enamel charms. Meanwhile, Calgaro, founded in 2000 by Giuseppe Calgaro and Monica Fin, is known for its woven, fabric-like gold and silver jewelry.

"We look forward to offering fine independent jewelers and upscale department stores a nice selection of Calgaro's exquisite jewelry designs," Rosato USA President Michael Pucci said in the release. "Rosato's expert sales team is eager to start selling Calgaro to select retailers across the United States and the Caribbean."

Rosato srl, the umbrella company for the two brands, as well as for the unbranded goldsmith firm 7ar, also recently announced the appointment of Andrea Missiroli as its new worldwide commercial director.

A veteran of the Bulgari Group, where he worked as wholesale director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and a former worldwide managing director for the distribution of jewelry and watch brands for the Gucci Group, Missiroli will expand Rosato srl's sales network in Italy and across the world, the company said. In his new position, he will also be charged with improving the marketing and commercial strategies for the Rosato srl brands.

Rosato/Calgaro will exhibit at the upcoming JA New York Winter Show, taking place Feb. 28-March 2 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.
