Argyle Pink Diamond Jewelry Outlet Opens in India

(IDEX Online News) – Mumbai jewelry buyers seeking something rare and different have a new shopping destination, the Nirav Modi salon in Mumbai. The new store is offering jewelry set with pink diamonds from diamond mining major Rio Tinto, the company said on Monday.

Rio Tinto announced earlier in the year an exclusive pink diamonds agreement with Nirav Modi, chairman of Firestone Diamond.

Firestone Diamond is an “authorized partner” of Argyle pink diamonds. It acquired a significant number of rare pink and blue diamonds from Rio Tinto’s Argyle mine. Modi himself is a diamond jewelry designer, manufacturer and luxury retailer, who specializes in one-of-a-kind heirloom jewelry pieces.

Highlighted at Monday’s launch was a signature ring, The Shalimar Ring comprising 4.86 carats of Argyle pink diamonds including a 1.25-carat fancy vivid purplish pink round diamond as its centerpiece. The 1.25-carat diamond was the much-coveted item of Argyle’s 2009 pink diamonds tender. 

Inspired by the Indian goddess of wealth Laxmi, the ring designed by Nirav Modi was over a year in the making. It is valued at approximately $2 million.
