AnchorCert Releases Gemstone Carat Weight Estimator App

(IDEX Online News) – Estimating the carat weight of mounted gemstones is something jewelry professionals need to do every day. To help them, the AnchorCert Gemstone Certification Service recently released the free version of its Gemstone Carat Weight Estimator App.

The app can calculate the estimated carat weight of diamonds and gemstones from their measurements.

The carat weight estimator contains a comprehensive database of diamonds and gemstones in a wide selection of shapes and cuts as well as detailed information such as Specific Gravity, Mohs Hardness and Refractive Index. The App also explains the meaning of these terms. Each gemstone has a color picture and each shape/cut is illustrated by a separate outline drawing.

The free demo version, currently available for Android phones, has full functionality on a small sample of stones and cuts. It also provides a preview of the complete list of gemstones and cuts that will be available in the full version.

The full version will be released shortly for both Android and iPhone for around $20 from the Android Market and the Apps for iPhone store.
