Almod Diamonds: New London Sight Joins Namibian Sight

January 29, 12 by IDEX Online Staff Reporter

(IDEX Online News) – U.S.-based diamond firm Almod Diamonds Ltd. announced they received initial confirmation from the DTC to being Sightholders in the 2012-2015 contract period and will have two Sights – a Sight in Namibia and a Sight in London.

Selected Sight applicants are currently undergoing an auditing process. Following its completion, the shortlisted applicants that passed the auditing will become Sightholders in the 2012-2015 contract period.

Almond has a Sight in Namibia under the current contract period, ending March 2012. The London Sight is a new one.

"We’ve taken great pride in working with local Namibians, training them to cut our premium diamond, the Crown of Light,” said Almod president Albert Gad. “A focus on branded goods is the way of the future,” Gad added.

Almod Diamonds is a family owned company that started with one retail store in the Caribbean twenty-five years ago.

Today, their retail division, Diamonds International is the most recommended store in the Caribbean, with over 130 luxury showrooms. Their closest competition by contrast has just 2 dozen retail stores in the Caribbean.

The firm grew to become a diamond manufacturer and retailing group with cutting factories in New York and Windhoek, Namibia. Almod Diamonds Namibia has had a Sight since 2008.

The strong sellers for Almod Diamonds at their showrooms are branded diamonds such as the Crown of Light, De Beers' Forevermark and others.

“The consumer has told us what they want,” Gad notes. “The volume of sales we experience in this niche makes a powerful statement as to what diamond collectors want; and it’s not the deeply discounted diamonds.”
