(IDEX Online News) – GIA (Gemological Institute of America) announced four new education courses during the recently concluded India International Jewellery Show. The new educational opportunities geared towards the Indian market are: “Accelerated Diamond Graduate (AGD),” “Merchandising Programme,” “Sales Excellence Programme” and “Swift Designing Programme.”
The self-study AGD course allows working professionals to take a diamond grading course at their own convenience. It is guided by an instructor and enables students to complete a seven-week full-time course in 6 months.
The Merchandising Programme gives practical knowledge and insight into the world of product and visual merchandising for jewelry retail.
The two-day Sales Excellence Programme gives retail jewelers the tools to accurately and effectively translate the GIA-created 4C’s and the International Diamond Grading System™ to customers across the counter.
The five-day Swift Designing Programme introduces students to design fundamentals and basic counter sketching of rings, earrings and more.
“GIA continuously works toward offering programmes that cater to the specific business needs of retailers and manufacturers,” said Nirupa Bhatt, managing director of GIA in India and the Middle East.
“After researching the market, we have identified areas where our expertise will help benefit the demand for skilled gem and jewelry employees.”
