MDL Diamond Merchants Acquires De Beers' DiamondSure Machine

(IDEX Online) – Canadian firm MDL Diamond Merchants has bought the latest version of De Beers' DiamondSure synthetic stone detection machine. 

"This latest technology is critical because the incidence of synthetic diamonds is becoming a concern for the global diamond industry," said company CEO Isaac Mimar.

He said the machine would be used to verify the natural origin of all diamonds weighing more than 0.10 carat.

"This should give MDL’s clients, and ultimately the final consumer, an unparalleled level of confidence that will build further assurance in MDL’s product and increase the transparency in the chain of custody of ownership throughout our distribution channel," he added.
